Sleep Solution Not Including Prescription Drugs
Most people can manage to fall asleep at night time without a problem, but for others, getting to sleep is a major issue, and finding something that works, besides addictive prescription drugs is hard. However, there are several different natural sleep aids readily available, and a few relaxation techniques that you may want to try to help the process along. For instance, having some exercise every day can help the human body get to sleep at night, provided you don't exercise too close to bed time. Normally you shouldn't go to bed until about 2 hours after a significant workout, as the body is still too revved up within that time period in order to allow for sleep.
Meditation is a relaxation method that works well for a lot of people, in fact sometimes the process of meditating can send some to sleep! Playing calming music once you are in bed can be beneficial too, though it can be a concern if the cd or tape clicks off after a time, or if your headset is not the most comfortable for lying in bed. Undoubtedly the music you play should be some thing that lets you fully calm down, but there are various types of music that you can try to find out which works best for you.
Having a warm bath prior to retiring for the night can lead to a more comfortable state, and some people enjoy a mug of warm milk too. And needless to say, it is good to have a set routine, so you go to bed at roughly the same time each night, and get up at a similar time also. Obviously you must not go to bed hungry either, nor should you eat a big meal just prior to going to bed. But all these are all things that you can experiment with yourself to see what works well for you as sleep aids. Eating a large meal before going to sleep is not a great move for most people, though you don't want to be trying to sleep while you are hungry either. Essentially, you just have to try a few different sleep strategies to see what functions best for you.
Needless to say, there are times when we may go through a wakeful period, and that can be triggered by any number of things. Stress plays a large part in sleep problems, but so does a depressive disorder, and various other ailments. In fact, you need to see your doctor if you are going through problems sleeping, because it may be a side effect of different medicines, that they keep you awake. Antihistamines, the allergy medications, are notorious for this, and sometimes it is hard to know what the best thing to do is, as most prescriptions do have side effects, some with terrible consequences. So, if it is at all possible, it is better not to consider drugs, and certainly try to use non addictive sleep aids but of course, your physician will be able to assist you on the best options available to you. However, be careful with drugs for sleep, as they do have a tendency to make you feel very groggy the following day. You might want to try some aromatherapy solutions and products which are natural and do not have nasty adverse reactions.
